A tiny minority of America’s industrial sites released more greenhouse gases than all the passenger cars in the country combined and a third of all chemicals that companies reported pumping into the air. These super polluting plants can be found in Indiana, where industrial greenhouse-gas emissions are second only to Texas domestically, and exceed those from Israel, Greece and 185 other countries.
